How to remove gel polish safely
First identify the system. Soak-off gel, peel-off base, soft builder gel and file-off hard gel do not share one removal method.
For a soak-off gel system
- Read the product’s removal instructions.
- Gently break the top coat seal without filing into the natural nail.
- Protect nearby skin, then apply remover-soaked wraps for the stated time in a ventilated area.
- Check one nail. Product that is ready should lift with minimal pressure.
- Re-wrap resistant areas instead of scraping.
- Wash hands and apply nail or cuticle oil afterwards.
Never peel cured gel from the nail
Forced peeling can lift layers of the natural nail plate. If the coating does not release, stop and confirm the product type or ask a trained nail professional.
